The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) was formed from the Officer’s Training Corps (OTC) in 1908, & in 1948 it became the CCF, involving all the three British Armed Service’s. The CCF is an organization apart from the school which is over looked, & financed, by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), & gives cadets the opportunity to take part in activities that focus on developing many interpersonal skills. These include;

·         Self discipline.

·         Pride.

·         Team work, along with

·         Independence along with many other skills.

Cadets can join the CCF from year Nine, where they participate in initial training, teaching the basic aspects of military life. Cadets learn basic foot-drill, take part in self reliance activities & are taught camp/field craft. The training culminates in a self-reliance weekend, normally at Easter, & a Passing Out parade where the cadets join there respective sections. The self-reliance weekend is always popular, even with older cadets, & is where the training is put into practice. A night exercise is always planned – followed by a hot drink. The passing out parade is very proud moment for the cadets, parents are also invited – the quality of drill & uniform is incredibly high, both of which are inspected by the Head Master & the Contingent Commander, along with the Head of Corps.
